Sunday 19th September

Fishing was at the Dip in Felixstowe with the match being from 12.00 to 17.00hrs, it turned out to be a glorious day for sunbathing and unfortunately this brought the crowds out and it ended up that there were more people swimming in the sea than there were fish, despite this junior angler Cameron Turner managed to catch 3 fish and made a clean sweep of the match, he won the match overall with a weight of 1lb 4.5oz he also had the heaviest flatfish a sole of 11.5oz and the heaviest round fish a whiting of 6.5oz, second place went to Karl Dawson with two fish a flounder and a pouting for 14oz,

The match on Sunday was to be fished between the Butts and Landguard at Felixstowe fishing was between 10.00 and 15.00. With a flat calm sea and bright sunshine hopes were not to high for a bumper day, most anglers had resigned themselves to targeting the whiting as the cod would surely be out of range. This soon changed as with his first cast of the match Ken Messenger managed to land a fine cod of 6lb 2oz he followed that up with another cod of around 3.5lbs these two fish along with a couple of whiting ensured that Kenny came out a comfortable winner, runner up was Andy Smith with 7lb 4oz Andy also had a nice cod of 4lb 8oz, junior Cameron Turner carried on his good run of form and managed two codling in his bag of fish in the junior section. Kennys cod of 6lb 2oz was the heaviest round fish and Mel Brindley had the heaviest flat fish a dab of 7.5oz. All things considered it was a very good day as whilst the codling weren't there in huge numbers the ones that were caught were very nice fish.
